Where are my clips stored — locally or in the cloud?

Both. When you copy something, the content is saved locally on your device and uploaded to the cloud so other devices can access it. On other devices, Clipiphany downloads a small thumbnail for every clip so your history is instantly browsable, and fetches the full file on demand when you open or paste it. This keeps storage and bandwidth low while still giving you access to everything.

Can I keep everything downloaded for offline access?

Yes. In Settings, enable "Always download all clips" and Clipiphany will automatically download the full content of every clip on that device as soon as it syncs. When you hit your storage limit, your existing clips are never deleted, but new clips stop uploading to the cloud until you free space. You can delete large clips you no longer need, or upgrade to a larger plan. Pro plans start at 1 GB and go up to 10 GB, and Enterprise plans (available for individuals or teams) give each license its own custom storage quota configured by the account owner — useful if you need more than the 10 GB Pro max.

Is there a limit on how many devices I can sign into?

No — you can sign into as many devices as you like under the same account. All devices share the same clipboard history and storage quota. You can see your signed-in devices in the web dashboard and sign out of any specific one without affecting the others.

Yes. All desktop and mobile apps keep a local copy of your clips and work fully offline — you can browse, paste, and capture new clips without internet. Clips sync automatically the next time you're online. If you stay offline for more than 3 days in a row, the app temporarily enters read-only mode until it can verify your subscription; to avoid this on long trips, enable "Always download all clips" in Settings before going offline.

You can add or remove apps from that list in Settings. Clipiphany also detects and skips content that looks like credit card numbers, passwords, SSNs, or private keys before it ever leaves the device.

Why don't my iPhone copies sync to the cloud automatically?

iOS restricts background clipboard access for privacy reasons — no app, including Clipiphany, can read the clipboard while running in the background. To work around this, Clipiphany includes a custom iOS keyboard extension that captures clipboard content at the moment you paste. Enable the Clipiphany keyboard in iOS Settings → General → Keyboard, and grant "Allow Full Access," to have your iOS copies sync automatically.

Can I use Apple's Universal Clipboard as a workaround?

Yes. If you own both an iPhone and a Mac signed into the same iCloud account with Handoff enabled, Apple's Universal Clipboard will carry your iPhone copy to your Mac automatically within a few seconds. Once it lands on the Mac, Clipiphany captures it and syncs to your Windows, Android, and other devices. This is the smoothest workaround for the iOS limitation if you already have a Mac.

What permissions does Clipiphany need on each platform?

macOS asks for Screen Recording permission for screenshots and screen recording, plus Microphone and Camera access if you use audio or webcam overlays during recording. iOS requires Full Access on the Clipiphany Keyboard to read your clipboard at paste time. Android needs an Accessibility Service permission to detect clipboard changes in the background — this is Google's required pathway for background clipboard access on modern Android. Windows runs without extra permissions. We only request what's strictly needed for each feature; disabling a permission only disables that specific feature.

I deleted a clip by accident — can I recover it?

Yes, for up to 7 days. Deleted clips are moved to a trash and kept recoverable for 7 days before being permanently removed. Open the Trash view in Clipiphany and restore any clip you still need. After 7 days the clip and its files (image, video, thumbnail) are permanently deleted from the cloud.

Your clips stay as long as your account is active. If your subscription lapses, clips aren't deleted right away — you keep read-only access. If your account stays inactive for an extended period, clips older than 30 days from the time of lapse may be cleaned up to reclaim cloud storage. Resubscribing restores upload and capture before any retention window kicks in.

How do I sign out of a single device?

Sign in to the Clipiphany web dashboard, go to Devices, and click Remove next to the device you want to sign out. That device will stop syncing and need to sign in again to reconnect. This is useful for a lost or sold device, or to keep your device list tidy. Your clips and other devices are unaffected.

How do I delete all clips on my account?

Open Clipiphany on a desktop or mobile device and go to Settings → Delete all account clips. This permanently removes every clip from your account on every device and from the cloud (including images, videos, and thumbnails). The deletion propagates to all your signed-in devices instantly. This cannot be undone, so copy anything you want to keep first. Your account, subscription, and settings are untouched.

How do I delete my account entirely?

Go to Settings → Delete account in the web dashboard and confirm with your password. This permanently deletes all your clips, screen recordings, signed-in devices, and tokens from our servers. For legal and fraud-prevention reasons we retain a minimal record of billing history and email suppressions. After deletion, your email can be used to create a new Clipiphany account at any time.

How do Enterprise accounts work?

Enterprise accounts let an owner buy one or more licenses with custom storage quotas — so they work just as well for a single power user who needs more than the 10 GB Pro max as they do for a team. If you only need a license for yourself, buy one; if you have a team, buy a pool and invite members by email. Each license includes its own storage quota (set by the owner when choosing the Enterprise plan). Members install Clipiphany, accept their invite, and start syncing — the owner handles billing centrally through Stripe. The owner can add or remove licenses at any time; removing a member frees up their license for reuse. Owners can also choose whether to use a license themselves or manage the account without counting against the license pool.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel any time from your account's billing page. You keep your paid features until the end of your billing period. After that, your account drops to read-only: you can still view and copy your existing clips, but new clips won't be captured or synced to the cloud until you resubscribe. Your clips aren't deleted — they're retained so everything is waiting if you come back within the retention window.
